Chinese New Year

A "Welcome to China" afternoon was held in KS1 in January 2019. The children learned about Chinese culture, crafts and cookery. During the afternoon they made spring rolls, tasted chicken and sweetcorn soup, made cherry blossom branches and fans and wrote their names in Mandarin. We tweeted some pictures from these activities on our school Twitter account.
Through the activities both staff and pupils developed their understanding of Chinese culture.
In February we were visited by two teachers from China (through our link with Edge Hill University's Confucius Institute) who spent the morning in KS1 and Reception classes teaching the children basic Chinese! You can see the children enjoying some of the lessons below.
