Class News 2017 - 2108

   April 2018

We hope that you have had an enjoyable Easter and are fully rested and ready for the

busy term ahead.

       Swimming

Please ensure that children arrive in school for 8:50am on a Friday so that we are able to have a full swimming lesson. We have to be in the pool by 9:15am so it is important that the children come to school already with their costumes underneath their uniform and their swimming caps on.

Make and Bake

Make and Bake money is now due. (The £3 covers the whole term from April to July) please could you send it in to school by 27th April 2018.

 Ancient Greece

Our history topic for the summer term is Ancient Greece and the children are welcome to bring in and share any exciting facts they have found out. Tuesday 3rd July will be our ‘Greek day’ when the children can dress up in traditional Greek costume and enjoy lots of activities.

Further details will follow nearer the time.

 Date for your dairy

Year 3’s class assembly will be on Wednesday 25th April 2018 at 9:15am.

There will also be 2 further trips in the summer term which I will confirm as soon as I have confirmation from the coach companies about availability.

We have had a fantastic visit to Crosby beach today! We got to meet the Iron Men and they even dressed up in one of our hoodies! We also saw the Iron Man that had been almost knocked over by the recent storms. We created our own art on the beach and collected sea glass.
We finished our day with a visit to the ice-cream van! Please see some pictures in the class gallery.

As part of our Iron Man topic we will be visiting Crosby beach on Tuesday 26th September 2017  to study the Iron Men statues by Anthony Gormley. The children are required to wear warm waterproof clothing and appropriate footwear (Forest School clothing is ideal). The children will require a packed lunch in a named carrier bag. There is also an ice-cream van at the beach and if your child would like to buy from the van we are suggesting they bring £2.50 with them.

Update September 2017
The children have settled really well in to Year 3 and I am delighted to see some 'head hurting' learning already taking place!

We are having a visit from Debby Ashby on Tuesday 3rd October 2017 for a Stone Age workshop. The  children will become history detectives and examine a range of artefacts to find out about life in
Stone Age Britain. The cost for this workshop is £6.

The children have now brought home their 'My Maths' log in details home and should work through the activities that have been assigned. Spelling books have also been given out with the first 5 spellings off the New Curriculum Spelling List for Year 3 and 4 and these words will be tested on Friday 22/9/17 and each Friday thereafter.
